Malaysia Blockchain Week 2026 has wrapped — and by the measure that matters most, who shows up, it was the strongest edition yet.

Across two days at the World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur, under the banner "Bridging Realities: Where Everyone Meets Web3", more than 150 speakers took the stage: TRON founder Justin Sun, Binance global policy lead Steven McWhirter, Visa's APAC digital currencies head Nischint Sanghavi, Anchorage Digital's Moses Lee, Nansen's Alex Svanevik — and, fittingly, Malaysia's own global names, Matthew Tan of Etherscan and Bobby Ong of CoinGecko.

The scene showed up too

The sponsor wall told its own story about how far the local ecosystem has matured: licensed local operators Luno, HATA and Gambit Custody alongside international heavyweights Base, Anchorage Digital, BitGo, TRM Labs and Ledger. Keynotes, panels, workshops, a hackathon and packed networking floors connected global protocols with local builders — exactly the bridge the event's theme promised.

The week had one bump along the way: shortly before the event, the Ministry of Digital and MDEC stepped back from their endorsement over an after-party promotion, which the organisers promptly acknowledged, apologised for and revised. The conference proceeded as planned — and the ministry's broader blockchain agenda, including the Digital Asset and Blockchain Working Committee that grew out of last year's MYBW roundtable, continues unchanged.

Last year's edition drew more than 2,000 participants from over 10 nations; official numbers for 2026 haven't been published yet, but the calibre of this year's stage speaks for itself. With Coinfest Asia, Korea Blockchain Week and TOKEN2049 Singapore still ahead on the regional calendar, MYBW has settled into its role as Southeast Asia's season opener — and Kuala Lumpur's annual claim to a place on the global Web3 map.
